$250 billion Asset Manager Converts Fixed Income Assets On to New Order Management System.

InvestTech Systems Consulting, Inc., the leading IT and operations consultants for institutional investment managers, released results of a successful investment management and compliance implementation with a large, well-established global asset management firm. The client engaged InvestTech to assist with the implementation of Charles River Development’s Investment Management System (CRIMS) for their fixed income assets.
The experienced Order Management System integration team at InvestTech was charged with the implementation of Charles River Investment Management’s solution to move the fixed income assets to the new portfolio & order management and compliance system from legacy paper-based trading. InvestTech’s business and technical consultants were responsible for defining the project scope, writing specifications, writing detailed test plans, designing and implementing new automated workflows, and building workflow processes for trading multiple fixed income security types. The team applied InvestTech’s proven testing methodology to ensure the accuracy of the new processes and support of the migration to the production environment.
InvestTech’s success in this implementation was a result of a structured project approach that started with a detailed roadmap and key tasks that included the following milestones:
- Integrated feeds to multiple systems including two accounting systems, Lehman Analytics, a data warehouse, and the security reference management system CADIS.
- Implemented new workflows for complex security types.
- Integrated confirmation/affirmation interfaces for investment operations including Omgeo OASYS, Thomson Tradeweb, and MarketAxess.
- Configured CRIMS Compliance for monitoring of complex fixed income products.
- Implemented Mortgage Backed trading for MBS and TBA securities.
- Implemented currency trading solution for passive and active currency trading.
After the fixed income implementation was completed, InvestTech Systems upgraded other CRIMS modules resulting in all $250 billion in firm assets operating on CRIMS version 8.1.3. This product version upgrade provided new functionality in the areas of currency trading and TBA trading.
